Possible Fraud….?

IMPORTANT UPDATE BELOW>>>>>

Now here’s a thing…. If you want to register and run as a candidate for the London Mayoral elections you need to put up a deposit. The deposit is a way to ensure that only serious participants register and acts to dissuade anyone who wants to register “for a bit of a laugh”. The dissuasion is from the fact that the deposit is £10,000.00. You have to put that much down at the time of registering, but, you will get it returned should you manage to attain 5 or more % of the first preference votes. If you don’t manage to gain 5%, then you can wave goodbye to your £10K.

In the 2021 London Mayoral elections Piers Corbyn managed to get 0.8% of the first preference votes. Count Binface, a “novelty” candidate beat Piers by 4,171 votes.

So back in 2021 Piers will have to have put down a deposit of £10,000.00 which he would not have got back. But “hold on” I hear you cry. “How can a 77 year old pensioner who lives in a council flat possibly be able to afford £10k to waste of a laughably small chance of getting over 5% of the first preference vote”

Ah, well, you see, he can’t afford it (or so it would seem, other wise why would he be blocking council accommodation when a more needy person could be helped). So he gets others to put the money up. “Who are theses others you speak of” I hear you say. Suckers, sorry, I meant supporters, who donate to him in order that he may run for office.

Count Binface

Asking for people to donate £10k is quite a lot based on the minuscule chance of success that he has. But don’t you see, he is being a bit cunning here. By getting others to donate to him, he can massage his ego by running in a competition he has no chance of winning and, and…. it does not cost him a bean. What he does get out of it is the public forum he seems to crave, despite only having utterly loony BS manifesto.

So here we are in 2024 and the Mayor election are fast coming around again. Once again Piers want an opportunity to hear his own voice and to push a 12 point laughably stupid set of principals. But he can only do it if enough gullible, weak minded fools fork up enough for the deposit. So he has started his fund raising.

On the left here you will see a screen shot taken on the 3rd which shows the current (then) state of the fund raising.

But wait a moment….. On his fund raising page it states that £25,000.00 is being sought with £20,000.00 being a “direct charge” ???

Those who are unaware that the deposit for the Mayoral election is £10k may be fooled in to assuming that it costs £20k to enter the race. So, is a deliberate fraud being played out here, or was it an accidental keyboard error that inflates the base required amount to stand?

We can’t make up our minds, and I guess that you will have to decide for yourself if it was fraud or a mistake. But we can’t help wondering why did no one proof read such an important page before it was made live?

If it was a genuine mistake then you also have to ask yourself if you would want someone in office, who can let such a financial mistake go past with out correction. It would be a 100% error.

If it is not a mistake and actually Piers is charging the “United Front” £10 or £20 k to stand as its candidate then you might want to looking if that should be considered “income” for taxable purposes and if indeed it gets declared as such. However, it may not matter at all as there is 7 days to go and so far Piers has only managed to raise 1.6% of what he is asking for, so it may all be a very moot point. Still, it was worth raising just in case he does manage to fool some fools into funding his ego preening.

UPDATE:-

It has been noted that after this post was published, Piers has had a fund raising rally and is closer to his target of £25,000.00

Since the 3rd of March an additional £110.00 has been donated. This increase takes him a step closer, but he still has £24,483.61 to go.

As of now (05/03/2024), he is 2% of his way to his target with 5 days to go.

UPDATE 2:-

Wow, Piers really is on a roll. It is still the 5th of March and he has more donations. Now he is up to a whopping  £600.001

So that makes 2.4% of the total he is gunning for.

Now here’s a thought…. if Piers fails to scrape together the £25,000 he is asking for, or even the £10,000 needed to register as a candidate for the election, will he return the  donations? I guess the clever ones (if there can be a clever donator to Pires) “pledged” a donation. Hedging their best to see if he does raise enough, but not trusting him to actually hand over the readies in case getting them back if he misses the minimum for the fundraising is a challenge. Maybe they don’t want to simply supplement his pension and keep him stocked up with TV dinners.

UPDATE 3:-

Well…. Its now over a week since the deadline as stated by Piers. DID he MAKE it????

That is a good question. If you take a look at the page that used to have the donations box on it you will find that it has been updated. The donation box is nowhere to be seen and there is no mention of the total raised. However, just before the page was amended we sneaked a peak and saw (on the 18th of  March) that a massive £416.03 had been donated. The amounts “Paid directly” and “pledged” had disappear before that so it is unclear if those monies were fictional to start with or have slipped into some ones back pocket??

So, where does that leave things??

Piers either managed to raise £771.03 (3% of his target) or £416.03 (1.67% of his target). So, based on that it may not be too probable that he will be officially registering as a candidate.

On an other note. We took a look at the website put up by his more successful younger brother Jeremy. The website was to test the waters to see what sort of support he would get if he were to run for mayor. It was also to try and raise money; for the deposit we guessed.

Seems like he is as popular as Piers as since July last year only 229 people had signed his petition to encourage him to stand for election.  Wow, that is embarrassing.  If his fundraising preformed as poorly then he would need to stick his hand in his own pocket, so I guess that means he will not be registering to run.

UPDATE 4:-

MISSING IN ACTION:

Not only has the “Donate to me” Donation box element disappeared from Pier’s begging website, but is is now nowhere to be seen on the Donation Box site either. If you try and find Pier’s donation page you get this….

One thing you have to ask yourself is… “where has the £416.03 gone?”.

Will Piers have returned it to the 15 donators?

Will he have donated it to a good and worth cause?

Or, will he have used it to buy pot noodles???

UPDATE 5:- final update 3rd may 2024

Oops….

It looks like Piers chucked the towel in. He didn’t make the cut. He obviously didn’t raise the funds needed to put himself forward at other people expense to be a joke candidate.

So you have to ask two questions…..

1. Why did he not make up the shortfall with his own money?

2. Will he return the £416.03 to the 15 fools that he parted it form ?

We have had a chat amongst ourselves and are confident that we know the true answers, but think that you should draw your own conclusions.

So we guess that it’s over for 2024 and “Piers for Mayor 2028” (if he isn’t pushing up daisies by then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
